Dr. Atkins completed her Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology in 1996 at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She served 8 years in the United States Army and attained the rank of Major. Prior to leaving the Army in 1998, Dr. Atkins was the Associate Director of the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and a member of the Clinical Faculty at Brooke. Dr. Atkins worked for Texas Oncology, P.A. for two years before moving to Augusta, Georgia. She joined Augusta Oncology Associates, P.C. in 2000 and has been an invaluable part of the team since then. Dr. Atkins is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Dr. Atkins' easygoing manner makes it a pleasure to work with her and more importantly to be her patient. She listens to the concerns of her patients and their families and believes in going the extra mile for them. Dr. Atkins frequently gives lectures to local community groups. She enjoys traveling, reading, fine dining, shopping and spending time with her daughter, Schuyler.
