Doctors Hospital has once again received The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for five different Disease Specific Certifications. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to providing safe patient care.

The re-certifications come in the following areas:

  • Total Hip Replacement
  • Total Knee Replacement
  • Spinal Fusion
  • Primary Stroke Center
  • Stroke Rehabilitation

Established in 2002 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission's Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:

  • Compliance with consensus-based national standards;
  • Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and
  • An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.

"Doctors Hospital has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for its patients," said Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director, Certification Programs, The Joint Commission. "We commend Doctors Hospital for becoming a leader in stroke and orthopedic care."

"Our staff and doctors work hard to make sure we receive these important accreditations," said Doug Welch, President and CEO of Doctors Hospital. "A lot goes into the process, but we do whatever it takes to make sure we are offering our patients the best possible care."
